I'm a software engineer based out of Portland, Oregon with about 16 years experience developing and delivering high quality web applications in the cloud. I cut my teeth on JSP pages, slicing and dicing PhotoShop files into working HTML, and custom WordPress templates. Following that I got interested in Ruby (though not Rails per se) and spent most of my professional time between 2009 and 2022 writing web applications in Ruby using a variety of frameworks like Sinatra and Syro. Client-side, I've dabbled with Vue, React, Svelte, jQuery back in the day, and a few other frameworks as well as some in-house abstractions over the DOM. Though I was skeptical of TypeScript at the jump I've grown to appreciate the type checking, especially when combined with a runtime that supports it out of the box like Deno or Bun.
